FINAL PROJECTS

It's December 4 and I've got four days to complete a final paper on parish leadership, five days to come up with something creative for reformation, six days to finish a canon law test, and seven days to finish a final paper for reformation. Not to mention getting ready for Children's Chapel at St. A's and also finding someone to sub for me on the 21st.

On the bright side, I have an idea for my reformation project, and the final paper for that class is at least in rough draft form. My original project was to look at the debates and study the sermons of Walter Travers v. Richard Hooker. The sources I needed don't appear to exist, so in my best GOE effort I'm making it up as I go and hope I sound good doing it. Not exactly, but that's a close enough definition for now.

I think my project will center around an inquirers class on the topic of preaching. As in why Episcopalians preach the way they do, what people are generally looking for in a preacher, and how all of that plays into salvation. I don't know if the presentation will succeed on the "creative" requirement, but hopefully it will at least be interesting.

I also heard from my rector/boss/supervisor at St. A's yesterday. He seemed to get the impression that I wasn't really thrilled about preaching on the wedding at Cana (I'm not). He suggested that I look at preaching on the Confession of St. Peter. Right now I'm still thinking about preaching on the epistle, but I'll have to see what the gospel is for Peter and then decide.

Any brilliant ideas are welcome.

Peace
