Today the Methodists and Episcopalians combined forces. Services were held at Bethel UMC and I preached. There were a few kinks in the liturgy, particularly around communion time, but we all survived. And nobody ran screaming from the church during the sermon. I even got a few compliments after the service about it. And the UMC pastor made a crack after the sermon that he was going to have to change his sermon for his next service.
After the service, everybody trekked across the street to our place. The youth group (made up of UMC/TEC kids) dyed and hid Easter eggs for the adults to hunt. Everybody had a great time, and we even had enough goodies and coffee afterwards for everybody.
I was asked several times when we would have services at our place and coffee hour at theirs; but I need to work on that. The problem is that our building is much smaller and can probably only hold 75 people in the pews. So I might have to get creative, because with both of us together (and us at full capacity) we're probably talking something like 110 easy.
One option would be to keep their choir up in our choir pews, along with some folding chairs in front of the organ. Then a row of folding chairs against the back wall, and another row behind our last pew. And maybe one -- ONE -- chair in the aisle next to each pew. That might do it; we'll have to see.
So, all in all, we all survived and the Methodist roof didn't fall in.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
