OMEN . . . ???

I saw "Children of Men" last night while waiting for Mrs. Ref and The Kid to arrive home from their Belize trip.

It was an interesting movie, and a much better imaginative look at what the world would be like without children than anything Left Behind has to offer.

The basic plot is that it is 2027 and the human race has been infertile for the last 18 years. Without children, the movie asserts, there is no hope. And a world without children is hopeless and violent.

Anyway, this post isn't about the movie, it's about what happened afterwards.

The radio station in the car runs a syndicated show that puts out factoids occasionally throughout the program. The first thing I heard after turning the radio on was one of those factoids. And this, my dear readers, is the factoid I heard immediately after seeing "Children of Men":

"For the first time in history, older people outnumber younger people on the planet. Researchers say this is due to longer life expectancies, better health care, and families having fewer children."

Have a good day.

Far as I'm concerned, given the overpopulation of this planet, that's a good thing.
