I'M A PICKIN' . . .
AND I'M A GRINNIN'
We had the Bluegrass Gospel Express play at St. P's last night. They are a group of musicians ranging in age from 58 to 68 (except the women, who are all 28), and they travel around the country playing gospel bluegrass. The church was packed -- about the same numbers as the weddings I've done there.
We did a Eucharist at 7 and had 39 people for communion. I'm guessing there were at least 85 in the congregation. The band started playing at 7:30, and they played until about 9 pm. Everybody had a toe-stompin', hand-clappin' good time. Even this rock-n-roll boy enjoyed it. That is, until they got off on this whole God-bless-America-we-need-to-take-back-our-country -and-get-the-Ten-Commandments-back-up-on-our-court's-walls-and-prayer-back-in-school- and-the-ACLU-heathens-out-of-power-and-on-and-on-and-on.
Although, I will give them credit . . . St. P's is the only church in VC. They mentioned that if you lived in the area and didn't have a church home, make it this one. They also reminded everyone to remember that I was on call 24/7, and to support me whenever they could. So that was nice.
All in all, it was a good time. And after the concert, the owner of the VC Creamery provided ice cream for everyone. It was very yummy.
We got home around 10:30 and I slept very hard last night. Even managed to dream about football. It was a good night.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
