BACK

The Ref clan took a mini-vacation of sorts over to Bozeman. For awhile now we've spent some time together at a hotel (with a pool!) as a family. I guess this tradition started well before we left for seminary, but I can't recall exactly when.

So we stayed in a hotel (with a pool!). After we checked in we went to the local theater and caught the Narnia movie. That is a Very Cool Movie. If you haven't seen this movie, do so.

Soon.

After that, we had dinner at, of all places, Old Chicago. This is a very good restaurant along the whole "Sports Bar" motif. And they have an unbelievable beer selection. I had a great ale from Oregon.

Then it was back to the hotel to swim off the meal. It was your typical hotel pool, not Olympic sized, no diving boards, but long enough to swim a few laps and play around, and they had a hot tub. By the end of our session though, the chlorine was getting to my eyes, so I rinsed them out back in the room. We had a nice breakfast this morning, then headed out to do some final Christmas shopping with a variety of gift certificates that were sent to us.

We arrived home safely. The two cats and two Guinea pigs are still alive, no worse for the absence of their owners (I think that's a good thing). Mrs. Ref is now napping, apparently having the need to recover from a day on the town. The Kid is quietly playing, waiting for me to finish checking e-mail and posting this.

Well, that about sums up the vacation to date. Nothing exciting; but hey, it ain't work!

I think it was maybe this spring that the "Stone Soup" comic did a few days about going to a hotel with a pool for vacation. I think the premise was that one year the mom had tried to book too late and the only place she and the kids could go was the local hotel. Then they made it into a family tradition. The exciting part was that the hotel had a pool!
