It has been a wonderful, whirlwind kind of vacation for us back to the Chicago area. Wonderful in the sense that we have been able to see lots of old friends, from seminary to church to work, and wonderful in that there has been almost zero humidity. We have been blessed by their hospitality, their laughter, their memories, the knowledge that we may be gone but definitely not forgotten, and the food . . . oh my, the food.
It has been a whirlwind in that we have been trying to see as many people and do as many "Chicago-fun" things as possible. This person for dinner, that one for breakfast; the aquarium, Navy Pier, Millenium Park. Honestly, I have not slept well this week, between the time change and new places. I'm hoping to sleep well Friday night when we get home, and then another long nap on Saturday. Oh, that reminds me, I need a sermon for Sunday .... oy.
Last night we were with Tripp & Trish for dinner. Juli made a request for Japanese or "any oriental" food. We were originally going to eat at the Sunshine Cafe, this lovely little Japanese place just around the corner from Tripp & Trish's old place (hey ... they now have an "old place" as they are moving to Wilmette so he can be the Senior Pastor at Wilmette Community Church). However, that place is closed on Mondays. So we went to the Thai Bakery ... or Thai Pastry Company ... or something like that. It was Thai.
Juli decided to be adventerous and order frog legs. I couldn't be out done, so I ordered eel. It went something like this:
Me: "I'll have the eel."
Waitress: "No. I wouldn't recommend that. You won't like it. Have something else."
M (a little taken aback): "Okay .... can I have the catfish?"
W: "Yes. That is good. You want mild sauce."
M: "Yes. What else would I like with my dinner?"
W: "You will also have rice."
M: "Is there anything else I want?"
W: "No."
This must be what it's like to have a personal shopper.
Oh ... and both the catfish and frog legs were very good.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

I've had experiences like that in restaurants out here. I'm learning to just trust them. :-)
Defintely not forgotten, bro.
Oh, and this Sunday is Trinity Sunday, don't forget. You could just do some teaching on the Trinity.
Teaching on the Trinity? Can't be done.
Frogs were good.
We would like to eat the leftovers, but we packed them with some other stuff and the VERY zealous movers took the box when I was not looking and packed it on the truck We were gonna take it with us to put in the frige. So, somewhere in the garage is a box of condiments and old Thai food.
Yuck!!
