FOR THOSE WHO WAIT . . . .

Good things come.

The Good Pastor Tripp informed me tonight that his Parish Website is now current.

This is a good thing, since I have been after him since he was called to this gig back in .... um .... back in .... well .... for awhile now.

It looks snazzy. Go check it out.

Note two things, though.

1) It needs a picture of The Good Pastor

2) Rev. Tripp Hudgins WILL be preaching (emphasis mine). I wonder if that tag line will change when they have a guest preacher? Maybe something like "Rev. Tripp Hudgins presiding." Or is that to Anglo for the Anglo-Baptist?

Anyway, it looks good. Go check it out.

Well, you know, we do not preside at services except of the first Sunday of every month. I notice that you do not preach but only preside.

Heh.

Preach, brother. I will be. Will you?

OUCH.

Preaching encompasses a wide range of styles and approaches, my brother, lets not forget that.

And yes, great site. I too wondered about whether you change the tag line when there's a guest preacher. Just sayin'.

I'm also wondering what "OPEN MINDS" means up in the banner. I've heard that a lot these days. And not to demean your particular church, Tripp, but a lot of folks out there keep "open minds" open to people who think like they do, and that's as far as it goes. So I'd love to hear more about that! :-)

preside |priˈzīd| verb [ intrans. ] 1 be in the position of authority in a meeting or gathering : Bishop Herbener presided at the meeting | [as adj. ] ( presiding) the sentence imposed by the presiding judge. • ( preside over) be in charge of (a place or situation) : he presided over a period of great budgetary recklessness.

So, Tripp, if no one presides at most of your services, is it sort of a random thing? People just kind of get up and pray what the Spirit gives them? Sounds very Quaker. I'm surprised no one has jumped up yet and, oh, read part of the Declaration of Independence. For example. ;-)

preach

• verb 1 deliver a religious address to an assembled group of people. 2 earnestly advocate (a principle). 3 (preach at) give moral advice to (someone) in a self-righteous way.

— DERIVATIVES preacher noun.

— ORIGIN Old French prechier, from Latin praedicare ‘proclaim’.

Not that this changes much, but I thought I would give it a shot, Mark. We have a lay person preside...and anything can happen as you kindly remind me. Heh.

re: open minds

Well, in theory it is supposed to mean that we don't quibble over doctrinal issues and allow people to work out their own salvation. The reality is that this is a church. We quibble for a living.

Have you read my bio on the site? That pretty much expresses what the congregation means. It is a work in progress, however, and we are not yet accomplished at it.
