So I've been out of computer commission for awhile. Our computer of five years or so became .... unstable ... and started giving us the Big Blue Screen of Death. Irregularly at first, and then more and more frequently.
To a point where it was time to get a new one.
Now, I don't want anybody to read anything into this. I have no particular views about the efficacy of one format over another, or that Bill Gates is the anti-Christ. Basically, I really don't care. Just let me do what I need to get done.
That said, we bought an iMac. It's finally up and running and I'm back in the world of the technical living.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Welcome to the Communion of the Redeemed.
Unlike you, I am devoted to Apple and the Macintosh, even though I live in a nation run by PCs, which really explains a lot about why this place is such a mess!
Congrats on getting a Mac, the computer of choice for seminarians who don't want their papers disappearing one page before they're finished and priests who hate the blue screen of death...
:-)
You missed me whining about the ex-governor of my home state (NJ) who is notorious both for the corruption of his administration and the disaster that is his personal life. He has been accepted into the MDiv program here AND is talking publicly about becoming a priest. ARGH.
Sophia:
First, let me point out that I never ever had a paper disappear before it was finished printing. I never had to say, "My computer ate it."
And it got me through GOE's just fine.
That said, I'm learning. I probably won't ever be a Mac-lover fanatic; as far as I'm concerned, as long as it does what I ask, I'm happy.
Second, Yes, I did see your bit about the former governor dude looking to go to seminary. One can only hope that his discernment team is . . . well . . . extremely discerning.
I agree with you. I used to use pcs until my adopted one died and went with a 24" imcac which has been terrific. so hats off to the imacs that never crash
an imac? ok, yeah, they've got great commercials but ... sniffle ... now you'll have to pay BIG bucks to get things fixed as opposed to inviting the local geek over for a home cooked meal. i'll pray for y'all! and what former governor dude? has another actor been elected while i've been in school? man, i miss out on all the fun.
Tracy:
I'm guessing that inviting the local geek over for a home cooked meal would work better if you're single. But I have a couple of good friends who are patiently helping me through this very trying time of transition.
As for the former governor dude, the former gov. of NJ (gay, left office, apparently headed up a corrupt government), has decided that he needs to go to seminary. Several people are concerned about this.
Sophia: For what it's worth, Episcope reports that the former gov. seems to have backed off, just a bit. Perhaps he's realized that the fast track does not apply in the discernment process.
Tracy: "Inviting over the local geek" still works with a Mac; the only difference is that it's a different geek, and not necessary nearly so often.
So invite the geeks anyway, even when you don't need them-- they can probably use a good meal. (^_^)
