A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Lovely. Nice. Fabulous.
The doors look very nice.
Now, since I've spent the majority of my ordained life in Central America and I really don't know some TEC stuff, 'sup with Episcopal churches and red doors? We don't do that here in IARCA. Somebody asked me about it the other day and I had no answer.
Padre:
Here's what I know about red doors and, typically Anglican, there is more than one answer.
1) Red doors are easy to see from a distance, especially when contrasted against a white background. Back in the days when the king, prince, knights or whomever were pursuing the poor peasants, red doors meant a church; that, in turn, meant sanctuary and safety.
2) Red doors signify the Blood of the Lamb. By passing through the doors, you were being washed in Christ's blood.
3) Red is the color of the Holy Spirit. Similar to #2, the doors signify that the Holy Spirit is present.
4) Someone once told me that red doors signified a debt-free building. While the church was still paying the mortgage, the doors would be some other color. After the mortgage was paid off, the doors were painted red to celebrate.
5) Church doors are supposed to be red; that's the way we've always done it. ;-)
Hope that helps.
