In some respects . . .

. . . I wonder what we did wrong.

When things first started, they weren't perfect, but that's to be expected when someone new comes along and changes the dynamics of the family.

But as time went on, she became more and more withdrawn, eventually only speaking when she wanted something, barely acknowledging the presence of those around her and pretty much demanding special treatment.

It finally got to the point where she chose to remove herself from the family; and as of Saturday afternoon, our foreign exchange student packed up and moved out. In that whole process, she never said one word to any of us.

Yes, in some respects, I wonder what we did wrong. As of today, however, the morale of our family has increased a hundred fold.
