Long Week

This feels like the Forever Week here in SW MT.

I had my first annual meeting Sunday that went very well. In that meeting we discussed all the usual things at annual meetings -- attendance, services performed, things accomplished, activities involved in, persons gained and/or lost, and where we go from here.

During the "where we go from here" portion of the meeting, I addressed the upcoming proposed merger of the two congregations and the immediate plans surrounding that (service times, service venues, combined vestry, etc). In short, the people of the parish were all in favor for this and saw it as a way to move forward for developing a vital Episcopal congregation here in the valley.

This coming Sunday is my second annual meeting. This meeting involves the congregation with -- quote/unquote -- "the most to lose." Ultimately this might me the loss of their worship space. And because of that, I have been dealing with them very gently. That said, however, it turns out that the success of this endeavor rests with them. I wouldn't be out of line in saying that the future of the Episcopal Church in the valley may be determined by eight people.

I am hopeful that this will all work out, but I am also just a tad bit nervous about how all this will shake out at the meeting.

Consequently, this is behaving like a long week.

Wow. Hope it goes well for you. As a word of caution, I would honestly think twice about posting too much parish business on a blog--unsolicited advice, I know, but I give it in love and concern, not to be a snot.
