As anyone who reads this blog knows, I am not a fan of baseball in general. I could give a bunch of reasons for that, but that's not the point of this particular post.
I caught a brief clip on SportsCenter this morning about the home opener of the Minnesota Twins.
I am not a fan of baseball, but even I have to admit that it made me smile to see the Twins playing in a real ballpark -- outside, in the sun with real grass and real dirt. No more losing balls in the roof. No more giant plastic baggies stretched across the rightfield seats.
Combine that with the Twins' signing of catcher Joe Mauer, hometown boy who grew up close to the old dome, drafted by hometown team, and may just play his whole career with said team, and the Minnesota Twins might just be my new favorite team.
No, I'm not a fan of baseball, but the Minnesota Twins are doing something right.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Even as a die hard Red Sox fan, I did not begrudge them beating us in their stadium debut yesterday. It's a beautiful park. They're a fun team. It was a day that was good for the game of baseball. And now all bets are off. I want my boys to take the next two & win the series. ;-)
I have been a Red Sox fan all my life. Mark
