Thanks to Simon & Garfunkle for the title inspiration.
I am now in Minneapolis waiting for my flight to Helena so I can get in the car and drive 1-1/2 hours home. If I say I was up before 5 this morning, that doesn't really do it. Taking into account the time difference, and as I've adjusted my clock back to Montana time, it is currently 5:45 p.m. and I've been up pretty much since 8 p.m. last night.
I think the trick to preventing jet lag is just staying up more than 30 hours.
Anyway . . . we left Berlin on the train to Amsterdam and arrived at the airport in time to rush through check-in and security and got on the plane. And, once again, First Class baybee! Flying standby was less than ideal, but the whole first class experience . . . yeah.
Side note -- Amsterdam airport is laid out just weird, and weird is not something I deal well with when I'm in a hurry.
Six hours on the train, 8-1/2 hours on the plane, another 2-1/2 hours to Montana, and 1-1/2 hours home. Yep . . . beat jet lag by outlasting it.
So as we come to the end of the trip and reflect on what we experienced, it was well worth it. The old (ancient) history, the fabulous churches, the food, The Kid's new "boyfriend" (or maybe it was "husband," I didn't quite figure that out) at Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall and the Jewish Memorial Museum, the bratwurst, beer, food, beer and more food and beer, new friends -- it was all just a whole lot of "WOW" that really can't be described well on the blog.
It was all good. And now I'm ready to be home.
