A few weeks ago I went for a run. I've been doing that off and on all year with the goal of being ready for football season. I got back from that run in the afternoon heat, stretched out, then went and sat in a chair on the back patio in the shade. When I got up . . .
Well, that's the thing, I couldn't get up. My back had chosen that point in time to do something seriously painful. So I iced it, took a cold shower (after I limped into the house) and took it easy for a few days.
Then it did it again. And again. And again.
After thinking that maybe it was related to running on the street, I rode my bike to the middle school not quite a mile away and ran on the field. Well, "run" isn't exactly right . . . I did some sprints, forwards and backwards, a lot of side-to-side, and some stop and go. In general, moves I'd make during the normal course of a game. When I got done . . . yep.
I can barely walk again tonight.
Football season start in just over a month. This shit has got to stop!

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Been there, done that. It's a shame you are too far away to see my back surgeon. However, this is NOT something to mess with. (I'm sure Mrs. Ref has told you the same thing.) It may be a fairly simple fix; I had my second shot (probably cortisone) today. The first one was in February. Not a big deal, and you can get up and walk out to the car. Not drive the first day, but by the next at any rate.
DUDE! What Lady Anne said: backs are not for messing with at all. Football will be here next year if you take care of yourself!
Agreed with all of the above. DO NOT MESS WITH THIS! Football is not going anywhere. You've watched me - now go see someone!
