And still more news . . .

The 2013 rules changes just came out!  This makes me happy as I get to think a little more about football.

I won't bore you with all of the changes, but here are some major changes to high school football:

1.  The Committee finally -- FINALLY -- has said that a 15-yard penalty for kick-catch interference can be awarded from the spot of the foul.  This means that if a receiver is illegally contacted while attempting to catch a kick at his 25-yard line, the receivers can accept the penalty from that spot and get the ball at their 40-yard line.  Previously the choice was to either re-kick after enforcement or they could keep the ball at the spot of the foul.

2.  Defensive pass interference will no longer result in an automatic first down; nor will offensive pass interference result in a loss of down.  I can tell you right now that we will hear from coaches about how we are screwing up the enforcement.

Color me a happy Rev. Ref.
