On Fire

It seems we are surrounded by fires.  Air quality is less-than-stellar.  People in outlying areas are being evacuated.  And I keep watching the hills expecting to see fire come over the top.

Here's a helpful little map I found:

I'm somewhere in that cluster of fires in the southwest corner of Oregon.  Funny thing, our air looks to be about the same color as that swath of purple.

So far the city proper hasn't been threatened, and hopefully the crews will be able to get a handle on these things before very long.  And that's about all I've got to say about that.

'tis the season, it seems. We're in the middle of that purple swath in SE Washington, not far from one of the fire clusters. Skies aren't quite so dark, but still quite hazy.

Luckily my trip up that way isn't for two weeks. Hopefully things will be better by then.

Scary - I lived in an area in SE Asia where the forests and fields were constantly burning one time of year, not from lack of rain per se, but to clear new fields. i barely could see the mountains. It was frightening.
