WRAP UP
Rivalry Weekend is over. The quest for the Old Oaken Bucket, the Apple Cup, the Axe, and the winners of the Iron Bowl and Civil War are over. In no particular order, here are my condolences and congratulations.
Congrats to . . . ME. The Cougars salvaged their pathetic season with a win over the hated Huskies. The Huskies are now tied with the Cougs for the worst record in the Pac-10. But all that is water under the bridge. COUGS WIN!!! COUGS WIN!!!
Condolences to Wes. My blogroll doesn't list him as "Husky Wes" because of his weight (in case you were wondering). Condolences, yes, but I'm still smiling.
Congrats to Jane. Her Boilermakers thumped the Hoosiers handily.
Condolences to Susie. This loss must be as painful for her as a foot massage (you'll have to ask her about her inability to have her feet touched), as Ohio State squeaked out a victory over Michigan.
Condolences to Heather. A once promising season ended in the dumps, as the MSU Spartans fell to the Nittany Lions of Penn State.
Condolences to Craig over at Montana Politics. Probably the biggest Montana fan I've ever known (although, I don't really know him, it's more like I have his blog on my list and he knows one of my parishioners and grew up in Ennis and he says interesting things about Montana that I like to read). He had his whole web page decked out in the UM motif (which is color schemed like WSU, so it aint all that bad). But the Griz got knocked off by the Bobcats of MSU, and now he has to "wear" Bobcat Blue all week. Poor guy.
In other thoughts . . .
I'm heading to bed and Fresno State is up on USC at halftime. Wow.
Did you see what Boise State did to Idaho?? They win by 35, scoring 70.
The Quack Attack get revenge on the Beavers, as UO beats OSU 56-14.
"The Game" wasn't much of a game as Cal destroyed Stanford.
And I've been asked, "Now that you're in Montana, who are you rooting for?" Well, I don't really know. Now that the Grizzlies of Montana have decent uniforms (read: Cougar Colors), it's easy to like them. But I'm closer to MSU. I also perpetually root for the underdog; which is one of the reasons I've always liked the Cougs. I have a feeling that, as time goes by, my Montana loyalties will fall a tad east and I'll root for the 'Cats. However -- and let me be clear about this -- UM and MSU play in the Big Sky Conference, Division I-AA, a division that has a playoff system. So, come playoff time, I'll root for the Montana teams, regardless.
With that said, I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow to find that Fresno has beaten USC. Just one more chink in the armor of that sham they call the BCS.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Dude, I didn't expect the Dawgs to win, not this season. It's been so bad that I've followed darling daughter's school instead. (League champs! Woohoo!)
And Fresno State was trailing by 8, driving at the USC 25, when they threw a pick with a minute and some left. Alas.
yep, our house was sad. But, I still have a book from Lit I that talks about the Michigan - Ohio State game as an example of public ritual. So, thats fun.
Now stop looking at my feet! :)
Thanks for the condolences. This week will be long, but it's just one week. :)
I enjoy your blog as well, you keep me up on events in the Ruby Valley. Plus, I suspect I know more than one of your parishioners, especially over in VC. Madison County is pretty small like that!
It was a big celebration in Mer Rouge. St. Andrew's was 150 years old and LSU beat Ole Miss.
However, the wife is another Grizzly fan - so the weekend was bitter sweet.
