GRUMPY

So I showed up for a 6:30 match, just like I had been told.

6:30 came and went.

7:00 came and went.

7:10 a couple of guys showed up, turned on the lights, and started practicing.

7:25 still no people.

7:27 I went out and introduced myself. Asked where the teams were. "Oh, probably still at the bar. You could go down there and see if they are going to come up to play."

I'm thinking, "Like Hell!! If they want to play, they can get their own sorry asses up here."

Instead, I said, "I don't think so. They all knew to be here for a game, and I don't have all night. If they decide to show up, tell them I went home and I'll see them tomorrow."

So, I'm home. I'm grumpy. I'm not as excited about this whole adventure as I was several hours ago.

Oh well, life goes on.

Wow.

Okay, so it is small town, relaxed, and all that. But still. A good lesson: The priest is just not universally able to sit and wait. Nor posessed of heavely, unearthly patience.
