IT'S OVER
The Steelers won, much to my disappointment. It was an entertaining game. Although I'll never understand Seattle's last drive.
We had a good time. A couple of parishioners came over for the game, and we had a houseful of teens (mostly boys, and the Brazilians outnumbered the Americans).
We had lots of goodies to munch on (crab dip .... mmmmmmm), and baked potatoes for dinner. That's been a Super Bowl tradition for a long time. We put them in at kickoff, and by halftime, they're ready to eat. We had all kinds of low-fat goodies to put on them also . . . margarine, chili, cheese, sauteed mushrooms, ranch dressing, bacon bits. It was yummy.
No dessert tonight, however.
So here's the question: Will Seattle be able to build from this and create a perennial powerhouse (ala New England, Dallas, Pittsburgh), or will they go the way of the Jets, Colts, Chargers, and Bengals? Who knows.
But it was fun.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

What will be most interesting, for both teams, is how free-agency treats them in the coming months.
Peronsally, I think that Seattle will go the way of the '99 Titans. ;)
Sorry, dude.
I also posted on this. I don't think that Seattle will be able to return if they can't resign Shaun Alexander. It seems like a no-brainer, but he is going to be might, mighty expensive. The Hawks made a big mistake by not offering him a better deal earlier in the year.

Well I can't say I'm disappointed. I waved my Terrible Towel at all appropriate moments (also at my rector's house), irritated everyone by constantly pointing out the official I had shared a flight with earlier this year and tried to figure out some of the calls (what was with the "illegal block" call on Hasselbeck?)
Seattle has the tools to continue to grow as a power. The Steelers secret has been stability, in the front office, among the critical coaching and player positions. Good luck to the Hawks, would love to make this an annual meeting!
