NOT MUCH GOING ON REALLY

We must be into the "Dog Days of Summer."

It's getting consistently hot. Hot in the day. Hot at night. This is the part of summer I don't like. But then again, after three years in Chicago, at least it's a dry heat.

The Sheridan pool is STILL NOT OPEN!!!!! It has a bad pump. It's had a bad pump for months. You would've thought that they could have done something about this when the kids were still in school, instead of waiting to order it after school let out and then finding out that it's on perpetual back order.

The only sporting event for months, excluding that soccer thing, is baseball. I'm not a fan of baseball. It's slow. It has the possibility of never ending (witness the recent "celebration" of the Pawtucket Red Sox v. the Rochester Red Wings ... 33 innings!!!). Every field is different; well, okay, every outfield and configuration is different ... but still. Imagine if the Steelers decided to have a different field dimension than the Seahawks or the Vikings or the .... you get the idea. Or if every hockey rink was different. For a game that relies so much on numbers and stats, you'd think somebody would mandate the same size field for every ballpark. Then you would know how someone playing in Houston would really compare to someone playing in some other bigger park ... Comisky -- oops, CellularOne. And to get an idea of how good Babe Ruth really was, remember that he was hitting home runs out of Yankee Stadium before they moved the fences in.

However, there is some good news (not that any of the above was bad news, it's just that I'm having to stretch for a post -- and if you want theological edification right now, go visit Jake or Mark Harris or Tobias or even Slacktivist). There is good news. Montana is a day closer to getting a little brighter as my good friend and soon to be diocesan colleague is one day closer to entering our borders. This is a good thing. And her assistant is practically giddy about handing over keys and phone.

All of that to say, "Not much going on really." And now I'll go turn off the sprinklers and get to bed.
