SHERIDAN FIRE, RESPOND TO ....

At about 11:15 last night, just as I was starting to doze off for the night, the alarm went off. We had a huge windstorm last night that knocked down a few trees around town. One of those trees came down in a guy's front yard, missing the house and his car, thankfully, but taking some power lines with it.

Good news abounds: Power company got it taken care of right quick. No fire. No injuries. I GOT TO DRIVE THE BIG TRUCK!!! With lights and everything!

Bad news: The person who drives the rig also has to put it away. I don't know if you've ever backed a fire engine into its bay when you only have use of side mirrors and there is not more than 12 inches of clearance on each side, but it's kind of a trick.

After I got it in the bay, Chief looks at it and says, "Only God could've gotten in there more sideways."

At least it still has a good paint job.

So I got home late/early, let The Kid know I was home alive (she really hates it when I leave to play firefighter), and then lay there waiting to drift back to sleep.

I'm seeing a nap in my future.

Dream: Flying down the street in a fire truck.

Nightmare: Making a sharp turn; having to park.
