BUDGETS

It's that time of year again: Annual meetings, renewing articiles of incorporation, budgets, parochial reports . . . in short, the one time of the year when I wish I had a parish secretary.

Regarding budgets, let me just say this: If you plan on reporting everything on an "annual" basis, it's a good idea to make sure that all your numbers are annual numbers. Calculating most of the numbers annually, and then calculating your biggest expense monthly is always a mistake.

For a day or so before I realized my error, I was ecstatic that CC only had a $4,000 shortfall. After realizing my error, it turns out we are more like $29,000 short for the year. Oops.
