The Ruby Valley was hit with a 4.6 quake yesterday morning about 9:50.
I was in my VC office when I heard a lound rumble and things started rattling. Seven seconds later, it was over.
I checked the church and everything seemed to be fine. No noticeable damage, so that was good.
I did get a phone call later. Turns out that Sheridan was close to the epicenter and there was some serious damage around town. Pieces of buildings had come off and others received structural damage of one sort or another.
My house now has a few more cracks in it. A few items fell off shelves and were shattered. But all in all, the house is okay. Over in my office, a few books and knick-knacks were on the floor. Cupboard doors were open in the parish hall and several dishes fell out and were shattered. The good news is that they all managed to fall into a plastic mixing bowl, so the damage was nicely contained. And a new crack appeared in the sacristy at the church, but that was about it.
Every once in awhile, the ground rolls and reminds us that one day Yellowstone is going to get really really upset. But I'll take this over the tornadoes of the Midwest and the hurricanes of the East and Southeast anyday.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

If I remember correctly the big one in the fall here was a 4.6 when it reached Oahu (it was much stronger on the BIg Island), so I know what you felt. Interesting, aren't they?
Glad to know the damage was minimal!
Isn't Jane closer to Yellowstone?
