The family went up to Butte to see "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
I was not impressed.
If you must see this movie on the big screen (assuming you haven't yet), see a matinée and go cheap.
I haven't read any of the HP books. I've sort of listened in when Mrs. Ref and The Kid have read them together, so I sort of know what the plot of this particular episode was about. Even so, not being the HP expert that others are, it was still easy for me to figure out that this movie was mis-named.
Instead of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," it should have been called, "Harry Potter and Only Harry Potter in Every Scene." All of the main characters -- Dumbledore, Prof. McGonagall, Snape, Malfoy, and yes, even Ron and Hermione -- were reduced to bit parts while we watched Harry agonize through dreams and trials.
The other bad news about the movie was that we sat through nine -- NINE -- commercials. Not previews, commercials. One for Fandango, two for the military, one for Priceline, one or two for Coke and I don't recall what else. At least those were followed up by just as many previews (I like previews), so you almost forgot about the commercials. But there was probably a good 20 minutes of pre-movie stuff.
That said, there looks to be a rather humorous movie about classic Disney cartoon characters getting trapped in NYC in the real world. I'm looking forward to that.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

We saw HP in Missoula, while we were on vacation-- at which time were included TEN commercials (yes, I counted) and only four previews. I was decidedly unhappy.
Disappointed in the movie, too-- but I love the books. You really should try them.
Haven't seen it yet myself, but I love the books. Will get around to the new one, but want to go back and read the last couple, I forget what has happened.
Hey Ref, ever thought about turning on your RSS feed for your site - it's a Blogger option. That way all of us loyal fans can know when you update.
Definitely read the books. Really.
David:
My RSS feeder is on (has been for quite awhile, actually). Maybe check your site feeder and see if my blog address is entered in properly.
David: The Ref's RSS feed is on; at least, it's been working fine in my reader for months.
Try putting the URL in like this:
