I (actually, all the clergy of the diocese) received an e-mail from the dio. office a few weeks ago about a "spiritual hiking" retreat offered by St. Thomas the Apostle Retreat Center in Cody, WY.
I'm not much into that whole "spirituality" thing. I did some contemplative prayer while in seminary. It was okay. Tried not to sleep, mostly. And I know this will sound heretical to some people, but Thomas Merton just doesn't do it for me.
However, I do enjoy hiking around, exploring the mountains, maybe even getting distracted by a wildflower or two. So when I got the e-mail, I thought this would be a good thing. I haven't really been on a retreat since being ordained, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity for me. Connecting with God, hiking in the mountains, having an excuse for the introvert to go away alone.
So, this will be my last post for the weekend. The sermon will be up sometime Sunday night or Monday for the one or two of you that look forward to that, and I'll give a review of the weekend upon my return.
Blessings

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

Heretic!!!
(As an aside, it should be significant that a Baptist has a greater love for contemplative spirituality than you, the Epicopal priest. Just sayin'!)
