FOOTBALL SEASON AGAIN

And all is right with the world (discounting, of course, the Mariner's incredibly awful slide from contender to barely there).

College ball is starting its second week. The NFL kicked off last night to much (over) hype. And my first game is tomorrow.

I'm taking a crew down to Lima for a game tomorrow. They play 6-man football down there. For those of you who aren't familiar with that particular version of the game, it's not that much different than your average playground game or pickup game in the park.

Here are a few basics: It's 1st and 15 (not 1st and 10); field goals are worth 4 points; PAT kicks are worth 2 points; PAT touchdowns are worth 1 point; everyone is eligible; the ball must travel at least one yard before the center can catch it; the passer may not catch his own pass (unless tipped by the defense); the person receiving the snap may not run past the line of scrimmage. There are a few others, but those are enough to make your head spin for now.

I'll post the final score Saturday after I get home; because, that too, is like nothing you've ever seen.
