OVERHEARD

So The Kid is playing volleyball again this year. The team has been practicing for about two weeks now, and they've played in their first pre-season tournaments. The varsity girls look pretty decent, and The Kid's team seems to have made improvements over last year.

She came home from practice one day last week and Mrs. Ref says, "So, you are a starter?"

"No . . . I play in the back row."
