I'm never sure if the week before a vacation is the worst, or if the week after arriving home is.
My mom and dad married on 2/18/78. In honor of their 30th anniversary, all the kids and grandkids are getting together for a little family reunion. Everybody in the family lives in Western Washington and Oregon . . . except, of course, me. When asked about participating in a party/reunion, I said that I really wasn't looking forward to driving 10-12 hours over four or five mountain passes in February. So everyone graciously agreed to meet in the middle.
We are renting a vacation house just south of Sandpoint, ID. Various kids are taking care of various meals. Mom is handling dessert because, really, she's really REALLY good with desserts.
So I spent this week getting ready. Making sure I had services covered, remembering to consecrate enough bread and wine for my deacon to use, doing up the reserved Eucharist and morning prayer bulletins, etc.
The only thing left to do is finish the last load of laundry and complete the pack job. Then we're out of here tomorrow morning.
And, of course, praying that the place is still standing when I return.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

My relatives who vacation there tell me Sandpoint is beautiful country.
Safe Travel!
Thank you.
I've never actually been to Sandpoint, but the whole NE Washington, N Idaho and NW Montana area is gorgeous.
Hope you have a safe & relaxing trip! =)
Yow! The Lovely Mona and I were married on 3/18/78, and our thirty-year anniversary is next month.
Now I feel old, learning that I'm a contemporary of yer parents!
Have a nice vacation, kid.
