Clergy Conference

This week was our annual clergy conference at our diocesan camp. It was later than usual because we needed to find a time that would fit with our keynote speaker's schedule. This was a good thing because it was also WARMER up there than in years past.

Our speaker this year was former presiding bishop Frank Griswold. I know several people who were not impressed with Bishop Griswold either in his tenure as diocesan or as presiding bishop for a variety of reasons. I never knew him as bishop of Chicago, only met him briefly a couple of times when he was PB, and, to be honest, really didn't pay much attention to him in that later role.

That said, I thought he did a very good job of leading us through our retreat and on considering various spiritual aspects of the job part of being a priest. Gave me some things to think about in my daily employed life and as I begin the search process for another call.

While we (i.e. clergy) were listening to Bishop Frank, Mrs. Ref and The Boy got to go visit Glacier National Park for the day. They had a blast and he has decided that he wants to live there. Not sure what his real parents will have to say about that, though.

So, three days at clergy conference was good and relaxing; and today I head off to Great Falls for my third CDC visit in as many weeks. The good news is that I'm not preaching on Sunday.
