We took The Boy to his first rodeo tonight. It's not quite like the rodeos you may have watched on TV. Same events ..... bareback, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling and bull riding .... but this was the National Senior circuit, so all the contestants were over 40.
They had a 40-50 class, 50-60 class, and over 60. They moved a little slower. Times were a little higher. Horsemanship not quite as crisp. And they fell just as hard. I like watching rodeo, and I wish I could do that stuff; but there's NO WAY I'd want to be doing that at my age and older.
And The Boy enjoyed himself well enough. Good food. Cheap entertainment. And not something he'll likely see again anytime soon.
So we're sitting up in the stands watching the calf roping and one gent came in with a time of 14.1 seconds, I believe. After his score was announced, the lady behind made the best comment I've probably heard since a fan yelled at me at a game years ago, "Hey Ref! You're socks are too tight and they're cutting off the circulation to your brain!!"
Best Comment after his run: "Those two new hips have done him a world of good . . . and he still has all his original teeth."
Yep -- can't beat the rodeo in Montana.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
