I'm getting old

The Kid and I were watching something on TV the other day when a commercial for Men's One-A-Day came on.  It's the one with Cal Ripken, Jr. catching all the foul balls for the guy next to him.

The Kid says, "Who's the old guy catching all the balls?"

I said, "It's Cal Ripken, Jr. and he was a really good baseball player."

"Oh," in a less-than-impressed tone.

Just another reminder that I'm an old guy.

Cal Ripken was not only a REALLY good baseball player, he is a REALLY good person. He has done wonderful things for the kids in this area, built a smaller version of the Camden Yards stadium for the Aberdeen Ironbirds (he was known as the Iron man) minor league team, and every year hosts the international little league series. It's great when your heroes turn out to be worthy of the title. (BTW, the Orioles have just signed another member of the Ripkin clan. Can't remember his name at the moment.)
