That was nice

We had some visitors in church two weeks ago.  This is not an unusual thing, we do get visitors.

What made this different is that they were apparently so impressed with our little parish and the service that they sent me a thank you note, which read in part, "And your sermon was thought-provoking, inclusive and very smart!"

Sometimes it's the little things.

Glad they didn't come the Sunday when my organist played the Gloria in place of the Sanctus.

Well, that would have been a surprise, especially if they were not Episcopalians. We use Rite I and II on alternate Sundays and the organist always plays the Rite II Gloria, no matter what. Disconcerting and confusing.

Alternate Rite I & II, with Rite II Gloria always . . . Reminds me of the time in Montana at diocesan convention when we used Rite II with pieces of Rite I slipped in in various spots.
