In the ongoing saga of the yellow page issue (see previous post), I decided to be proactive in dealing with these guys.
1. I filed a complaint with the Oregon Dept. of Justice, Consumer Complaint division.
2. One of the complaints on google said that since this was a fraudulent invoice received through the mail, you should file a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service. So I did that as well.
3. I contacted an attorney friend about this and he basically said not to worry, but that I might want to consider writing something to the local paper telling people about the problem.
3a. After that conversation, I had a thought -- TV stations do consumer protection issue stories all the time (like the one about the elderly lady who let a church youth group member selling magazines for veterans take her debit card . . . you know how that turned out). And the Olympics are on, so viewership with the local NBC station is probably up. So I sent local NBC an e-mail and said, "Hey, would you be interested in this?"
I received a call from one of their reporters who was in town and wanted to come by to talk about it.
He and his partner showed up with camera and mic in hand, we talked about the situation, he took some closeups of my BCP and rosary, as well as shots in the church, and said, "I'm hoping to run this tonight at 5 & 6."
Okay then . . . I might be on TV.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
