Thursday flight -- cancelled.
Sunday flight -- kids bumped, luggage on
Sunday: Kids given food voucher by United for use in KC airport, a travel voucher for a future flight on United, and a hotel room.
Sunday night: Mrs. Ref on hold for 1-1/2 hours waiting to talk about The Kid's baggage. Finally got through to a rep who said, "Sorry, our policy is to not reroute baggage until the traveler completes their flight."
Mrs. Ref: But it was YOUR error that allowed the bags and the traveler to be separated.
Rep: Sorry, our policy is to not reroute baggage until the traveler complete their flight.
Monday: I called Alaska Airlines because the kids would not be on their flight from PDX to MFR; and if you have a round-trip ticket and miss the first part, the whole ticket gets cancelled.
Alaska: This is Kathy, how can I help you?
Me: United screwed us, and now the kids won't be on the flight from PDX.
Kathy: Please hold.
-- awful hold music for ten minutes --
Kathy: Okay, they've been cancelled from PDX to MFR. We will credit you the value of the first half of the flight that can be used by anyone within a 12-month period. And they are still confirmed from MFR to PDX on 1/12. Is there anything else we can do for you?
Alaska Airlines is awesome. Well, except for their hold music.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
