Maybe . . .

Maybe it's beginning to sink in.

Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?

"Oh God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth . . . bring the nations into your fold; pour out your spirit on all flesh . . ."

"Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross thta everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace:  So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love . . ."

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The Supreme Court today struck down the unconstitutional, prejudicial, segregationist and homophobic Defense of Marriage Act.

All means all.
Equal means equal.

Maybe it's beginning to sink in.

Our parish is rejoicing! Maryland passed the "Gay Marriage" law some time ago, and our rector and his partner are getting married in July. When he announced this in church, one little grey-haired lady asked if they were registered any place. So much for creating a stir. There are folks who don't mind the marriage, but object to it being in church, but pointed out that NO member of the clergy would be happy with a civil ceremony. Don't think they agreed with me, but they didn't argue.

I've got my work cut out for me here trying to get people to see that equal means equal. We'll see how it goes.
