MERRY CHRISTMAS

It's a quiet day on the block. The school is officially shut down until after the new year. Most of the residents have left for homes and locales they left to come here. The local CCM station will start playing continuous Christmas music at noon today through tomorrow sometime. (They will, of course, immediately stop playing it on 12/26. And for those of you wondering, I never did hear back from either the program director or the morning DJ about continuing Christmas music through the Christmas season. Oh well).

We will be attending the 5 pm service at church where the kids present their pageant. Then back home for our traditional shrimp dinner and a few Christmas movies, including my personal favorite "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

It actually snowed here late last night. I love snow on Christmas. It has a wonderful way of quieting the world. One of the things I learned to do back home was how to listen to snowfall. It's very peaceful. And after almost three years in Chicago I'm really looking forward to regaining that peace that seems to be lost in the big city.

If you haven't had the opportunity, I highly recommend reading RLP's interpretation of the Christmas story. It's very good.

That about sums up where I'm at on this Christmas eve.

Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas.
