I received a phone call at work today in which a woman asked me where the AA meeting was in town.
In my two years here, that has never come up. Hard to believe what with me hanging out at the bars and this comment made to me at about 8:45 a.m.:
"They don't have any diet pop; I guess I'll have to drink diet beer."
The mind reels . . .
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah . . .
So this lady wants to know where the AA meeting is. I don't know, but I took her number and told her I'd find out. So off I trot to Fr. Ed's place, my RC neighbor. He's been here for something like ever, and if anyone would know, he would.
Wrong answer. He didn't know either.
So, with both priests not knowing where the AA meetings were held, and me unable to make connections over the phone, I jumped in my car and headed here. I figured if the two priests don't know, someone there should.
And sure enough, after declining a Miller, I was told exactly where and what time the meetings were held. I was also told when and where they were held down in Twin and up in VC.
I called the lady back and gave her the information, and she was very appreciative. I probably should have just called them to begin with and cut down on my research time.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

How creative of you.
For future reference (you know, in case the local watering hole is closed or something), I've had a lot of sucess with online searches - by googling "local AA meetings" you can pull up phone numbers for all the regional offices in the country. And Canada.
