Saturday was the 2nd of two Virginia City Victorian Balls. Saturday was a busy day.
Mrs. Ref did a stint down at the local food bank. While she was there, I "attended" the annual football rules clinic. MT does these things online so nobody has to drive for hours and hours. About 11:30, the FD was paged out for a telephone pole fire. I didn't go because, 1) I was going to be leaving for Butte in 30 minutes, and 2) I didn't have the car.
So at noon, Mrs. Ref and I headed up to Butte for some much needed grocery shopping before our new foreign exchange girl showed up. Got home about 4:30, unloaded the groceries, and then I changed into my "work clothes" and headed up to VC because I had been asked to invite people to our 1865 service and give the invocation.
Now, remember that pole fire? Yeah . . . it was on the line to VC, so the town was without power from 11:30 on. People in town were wondering if they were still going to have the dance. They did the promenade through town, processed into the hall, had the official welcome, played the Star Spangled Banner, then turned it over to me for the prayer. I invited them all to our 1865 service on Sunday, told them about our 3rd Annual Bluegrass Concert & Ice Cream Social on Monday, and then began praying.
At which point . . . . the lights came on.
I scored some serious points with the locals . . . :-)
I wish the service went as well, but, alas, it didn't come together as well as the first one. Oh well . . . next year I'm only doing one.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

The reverse of the Easter Vigil at St. Mark's Cathedral last year.
The cathedral was dark, and when the bishop said the Easter acclamation - twice - we discovered that the power was out.
It was a good thing we all had candles.
