If you are a long-time visitor and serious reader (yeah ... right) of this blog, you will recall that we applied for and got a UTO grant for a new roof at Christ Church. One of the pleas for money went something like this: "Birds are regularly getting into the church through the old roof."
I don't know if that was the deciding factor in why we were awarded the money, but it couldn't have hurt.
We had a bird in the church Sunday. This was the first "visitor" we've had since the new roof went on.
During the announcements, I mentioned that we need a new "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You" sign. Ours is starting to look a little weather-worn. But more than that, it's incorrect. The official name of the church is Christ Church.
The north side of the sign reads "Christ's Church."
The south side of the sign reads "Christs Church."
Now, why this wasn't caught and corrected when the thing arrived umpteen years ago I will never know. And neither does anyone else, as a matter of fact. So I said we need a new sign.
With the bird flying around, and the need for a new sign, someone suggested we change our name to "St. Francis."
Hmmmm .........

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.
