For those of you wondering where the sermon is because you want to read some theologically uplifting and life changing words . . . um . . . right. This is me we're talking about.
But seriously, there's no sermon posted today because I didn't write one. I was having a hard time putting down on paper what I wanted to say about today, the last Sunday after Pentecost, Christ the King Sunday.
So in short, the sermon touched on earthly kings, the kingship of Jesus, the two criminals, death, resurrection, and what this kingdom might look like here. So, you know, just your basic liberal anti-biblical and heretical new teachings of TEC.
But that's not what I really wanted to post about. I really wanted to talk about traffic flow (I feel like Arlo Guthrie). For the most part, when one person makes an ... observation ... about church, I will listen but then politely file it away somewhere. But when two people .... can you imagine TWO people comin' in .... (okay, I must be channeling Arlo tonight) ... when two (or more) people say something, it's time to start thinking about addressing the concern.
This particular concern had to do with traffic flow during communion. It seems that we have grown sufficiently for there to be problems getting in and out of the pews during communion. This, I must say, is a good problem to have. So I decided to try something new.
An usher.
Yes, dear readers, we are instituting an usher during communion. The lay reader will perform this task and ensure that all those in attendance approach the communion rail in a decent and orderly fashion. (My ranchers in the congregation mentioned that this was called a "sorting shoot chute").
It didn't work perfectly. We still have a few bugs to work out. And one person mentioned that there was "a lot of dead time" during communion. But we'll get better at it. And it will help prevent the stampede to the rail and the crush of humanity trying to get back into their pews.
Wow .... we need an usher. That is so cool!

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

You could point out that
"dead time" = "time for silent prayer and contemplation"
and see how that flies! lol.
Great news, congrats
Peace
