And Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt while people spread garments and branches of palms on the road ahead of him. As he rode, the people shouted, "Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord."
And then they took him and led him away to Pilate where he had him flogged. After which the people shouted, "Crucify him!" Pilate asked, "Do you want me to crucify your king?" And they shouted all the more, "We have no king but Caesar! Crucify him!"

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

We had a very interesting - if typically disorganized - service this morning.
The rector did not send me his article for the newsletter until Saturday morning (it was due on the 20th)so although I had the dratted thing on-line before noon, most people didn't get a chance to read it, and had forgotten that it was announced last week that we would be meeting at the Presbyterian church at 10:45 for an ecumenical Blessing of the Palms, and then returning to our own church for service at 11:00, rather than 10:00.
We car-pooled over from Resurrection, and the contingent from the Catholic church walked the two blocks. The opening part of the service was read by the three clergy, and then the hymn was led by the Presbyterian minister, who has a fabulous voice. We sang all four verses, and then dispersed - and then sang them again when we got "home".
Because of the crowd, we had arranged to have two chalicists, but the Altar Guild had forgotten to set out the other cup. I was trying to do all sorts of signs, without actually waving my arms and yelling "yoo, hoo!" to get somebody - anybody! - to dash into the sacristy (which is in the back of the church) but the other LEM finally caught on, and slipped back to the side, and let me handle the job by myself.
If you don't like "organized religion", this is the place to be!
