The Results

The Episcopal Church's House of Bishops has elected, and the House of Deputies has confirmed that election, the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, Bishop of North Carolina, as the 27th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

I am elated with this decision, and I'm looking forward to the next nine years under his leadership.

May God bless his ministry.

Yoho! Your man won the day- AND he is a former rector of St. James, Lafayette Square, an historically black church here in Baltimore. He is also an old friend of our bishop, Eugene Sutton.

When you mentioned Michael Curry, it struck me odd that we had two clergy with the same name, and it turns out they are one and the same. This is what I love about our church - a black man from Baltimore becomes the bishop of North Carolina. All this and Absalom Jones.

Not only won, but won in a landslide on the first ballot.

HOB vote had him with 721, Bp. Smith was in 2nd with 21.
HOD vote confirmed at 800 for, 12 against.

That is amazing.
