We're home.
As much as I tend to make fun of the flat boredom of the Midwest, it's got nothing on the stretch of road west of Salt Lake City to Elko, NV, wherein you cross the Great Salt Desert and the designers of the interstate decided to take the shortest-distance thought process when laying down pavement.
NW Utah and northern Nevada have some of the longest, straightest stretches of road I have ever seen. In fact, if your car is aligned properly, you don't even need to touch the steering wheel. Honest.
But we're home and giving thanks to God today that the car chose last night to die and not while we were sleeping in North Platte, NE. That was fortuitous indeed.
But now we're home and things are back to normal.
Ten days on the road did not do well for the body. Besides the general aches and pains of sitting in a cramped vehicle for 8 - 10 hours a day (or more), the body lived off of restaurant food, road food, hotel rooms and no exercise for those ten days. I've developed quite the Buddha belly.
Football starts on Friday with a double-header.
Here's praying that I don't act like our car and die after the event.
Good to be home.

A Few Words About Comments
Comments are always welcome here, but there are a few things you should know:
1) If you comment, leave a name. If you can't figure out how to log in or register or whatever the system is making you do (which, believe me, I fully understand how frustrating that can be) and you must comment anonymously . . . leave a name in the comment section. Purely anonymous comments will be deleted.
2) Comments I deem to be offensive, irrelevant, or generally trollish will be deleted. I'm mainly talking to the Akurians here. Don't make me get out my flag!
3) If you would like to receive e-mail notification of other comments so you can more easily follow a conversation (yeah, like I ever have those on this blog), you must register with Blogger. Sorry . . . I didn't have anything to do with that one.
Enjoy the game.

You were driving without your hands again?! Shame on you, tsk, tsk. I can't believe Marsha the Marshmallow got toasted! I'm glad you're ok and I know that you had a good morning today. :D
The Kid
P.S. You do NOT have a Buddha belly.
How is your back? I know the injection didn't work out nearly as well as hoped, and I wondered how you were doing on the road. (And goodness! Don't die on us.)
Kid: Only briefly; I had to find some way to make that long, straight, flat stretch of road exciting. And, yes, it was a very good morning today.
Lady: The back is relatively normal. The road was less than ideal, but you'll have that. Went in today for another appointment and different shot, so we'll see.
