88:3

As I was waking up this morning and getting ready to leave the house for Morning Prayer, I heard that Hostess was closing down operations.  In other words, Hostess will cease to exist.  That means no more fruit pies, no more Twinkies, no more cupcakes, no more Wonder Bread (well, okay, no great loss there), no more Ding Dongs.  NO MORE DING DONGS!!!!

I wanted to make sure this wasn't a mistake of some kind, so I went to the official Hostess website; and, sure enough, they are shutting down operations.

At Morning Prayer, we recited Psalm 88.  With this news heavy on my heart, verse three seemed to hit home: For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.

I prayed for the loss of an American icon.  And I also (seriously) prayed for the workers who have lost their jobs because of this.

And then I went to the store and bought six fruit pies and four boxes of Ding Dongs.  I'm thinking of saving one of those boxes for my grandchildren.
